Doing an oral history interview of myself.
Wait- what did he sing?
Respond to song lyrics that we don’t understand. Starting with “I smell like I sound” from “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran.
Interviews as art
Mierle Laderman Ukeles’ Manifesto for Maintenance Art had in it a plan to interview spectators to an exhibition in a side room gallery space. Spectators to be interviewed on the subject of the show - life maintenance tasks and the value of one’s time and relationship to ‘life’s dreams’.

Idea:
Interviews as art:
On all kinds of subjects that concern Bennett & McDermott
Maybe using EDC members
Edit a film together. Make it an art film - ignore classic 3 act structure.
Wallpaper
Make wallpaper from the screen prints of the Twenty Years letters.
Going slow as art
Could setting off for a slow day -to wonder as I did as a kid - but as an adult - be fun, memorable, productive?
Would we take work to do? Or take nothing?
Things I Did Whilst Doing Something Else
Two lists made by Sharon whilst she was doing something. She noticed how many times she was required to switch tasks or divert her attention away from the task in hand.
Puzzle print
A puzzle made from large abstract mono print mounted onto board and cut into geometric shapes. The piece can be arranged into its original configuration or rearrange into an infinite number of other possible configurations. A compositional puzzle with infinite solutions.
Possibilities for participant interaction include: sending images of solutions and associated thoughts about what their composition reminds them of or resembles to an ongoing archive.
In this post are examples of this game being played by my daughters using a maquette made with cardboard and colouring pens.
Nora: Unicorn
Nora’s composition seen by Cordelia as a bird in flight.
Cordelia: plant in a pot. Nora saw this as a man performing a handstand.
Nora: a king’s scepter.

Mfd museum and art gallery
We set up a museum and art gallery in our front garden with a small display cabinet. We are artists-in-residence and research historical facts of interest about our local area. We invite neighbours to contribute with art works or stories to include in the museum display.
I was here while you were there
At a pre agreed time, we take a short video of a minute duration of our surroundings while we are apart and then edit the videos together.
The museum of here
We set up our own museum at a festival or gallery. We ask visitors to choose an object on their person that is significant, we photograph the object and make a note of the details of it and any associated story. We print the photo using a small printer and type an information card using the word processor. The photo is given an archive number and is added to the museum by displaying it on our stall. The museum archive grows over the duration of the festival.
sensory considerations
When creating and developing work, think about the sensory aspects. Make work about seeking, avoiding or controlling sensory input. Sounds, sights, touch, smells.

A Day to remember not forget
Instead of each day being the same, what novelty can we bring to make each day a day to remember?
